Beth and Jon have great plans for their Cape Elizabeth home, from kitchen renovations to the addition of a porch and an art studio. “We have a 30-year plan,” explains Beth, “but having a manageable overhead is the first priority. If we can cut our energy bills, the savings will finance the other improvements.”
When they learned that Evergreen Home Performance offers a free one-hour consult, they jumped at the opportunity to explore the possibilities with Energy Advisor Audrey Rolio. “She had really good understanding of our house and our energy losses,” says Beth. “The consult was thorough and informative, and the solutions were so much more economical than we had expected.”
Audrey outlined and prioritized a range of potential improvements – including pipe insulation, attic and basement air sealing and insulation, boiler replacement, and solar hot water – with a variety of pricing options. “People assume energy efficiency will be expensive,” says Beth, “but it doesn’t have to be.”
